Frank, why do you think that your two bits are worth anything at all? You according to your own postings are riding a friction shifting 6 speed freewheel bike. What makes you think that you know anything whatsoever about a modern bike, If wires don't stretch why is there so much lever play in the brakes with heavier wires still?

Why? [raises hand]
Crappy setup.

That may very well be, but as I say, I cannot see that the position of the wire in the derailleur lock had changed. That would be a good sign that I'm doing something wrong. Way back during the pandemic, I bought a supply of brake and shift inners and havn't used them up, but I will try stock Shimano shift inners to see if they change. If I am doing something wrong you would expect to see something. And I don't.

Tom, assuming "derailleur lock" refers to the cable clamp setup in the
derailleur, that's not what Andrew was referring to when he said "Crappy
setup."

Since you know nothing about what I'm talking about you're wrong as usual.
We know the cable clamp isn't referred to as a "lock"....
