I am unaware of the Catholic Church being against the death penalty...

From the US Conference of Catholic Bishops:
<https://www.usccb.org>

"The Church's Anti-Death Penalty Position"
<https://www.usccb.org/resources/churchs-anti-death-penalty-position>

Now you are aware.

No I am not since neither of your "references" work.

How convenient.  Go forth and fix it thyself:
"There are none so blind as those who will not see".  (Jonathan Swift)

Are you only blind to things you find disagreeable and contradict your
assertions?  Do you seriously expect anyone who reads your rubbish to
believe you?

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops is NOT the Catholic Church.

True, but they were nice enough to collect comments from various
bishops on the topic of the death penalty.  I suspect that if the
USCCB deviated from a stated policy of the Catholic Church, we would
be reading about it in the news.  Most of the writing are by various
bishops, but if you go down the list, you'll find comments by various
popes.  The first is probably the most interesting:

The new evangelization calls for followers of Christ who are
unconditionally pro-life: who will proclaim, celebrate and serve the
Gospel of life in every situation. A sign of hope is the increasing
recognition that the dignity of human life must never be taken away,
even in the case of someone who has done great evil. . . . I renew the
appeal I made . . . for a consensus to end the death penalty, which is
both cruel and unnecessary.
- Pope John Paul II Papal Mass, St. Louis, Missouri, January 27, 1999

And even if the Pope has declared against the death penalty it belies centuries of the opposite from the same office.

The pope (in 1999) did exactly that (see above).  I agree, there would
be some discussion on the matter.  Maybe you could phone the pope and
ask him for a personal statement on the matter.  That allegedly worked
well when you phones various US political personalities.  Here's the
contact info:

Liebermann, I understand that you're too stupid to know that your computer is infested with viruses and that you want to spread them around. But Bit Defender won't allow you. But then you could never do anything like aford an antivirus so you can pass them along to your friends Krygowski and Flunky. They like the idea of infecting others with such things.

Nice topic change to avoid discussing the church's current policy on
capital punishment.  If you read a little on the history of the US
Conference of Catholic Bishops, you'll find that has operated in an
advisory capacity with the approval of the Vatican since 1917:
<https://www.usccb.org/about>

However, I do have a question.  Why did you delete the Pope's contact
information?  He welcomes questions.  For example:
<https://www.vaticannews.va/en/pope/news/2023-04/in-open-dialogue-with-pope-ten-young-people-ask-tough-questions.html>
Did you delete them in the hope that I would forget?  Or, is there
some reason you don't want anyone to ask if the Pope knows about your
activities (past and present)?

It's not like his contact info is a state secret.  See:
<https://www.evangelizationstation.com/htm_html/Church%20Contacts/vatican_mailing_addresses.htm>
  His Holiness Pope Francis
  Vatican City State, 00120
  phone: +390669881022
  fax: +390669885373

This might be helpful:
"Want to write to the Pope?"
<http://thevoiceofthezamorin.blogspot.com/2014/10/want-to-write-to-pope.html>

Of course, you'll likely pretend that you can't read the above links
because my computer is attacking your computer with viruses.  Well, I
can't prevent you from lying and making a fool of yourself.  That's
why discussing anything with you is a waste of everyone's time.
