I skipped a couple of days for icy roads in a lingering
sleet but had a reasonably nice ride this morning. Would
have been better without the damp wind.

 
I know it would be better for me physically to go more often on
shorter rides, but that wouldn't satisfy my emotional requirements.  I
dislike riding in my suburban neighborhood with short spans between
stop signs. I want long uninterrupted stretches with as few stops and
as few distractions as possible, so for me it's a five mile trip in
the truck to the bike trail, and nowdays, a minimum of three days to
recover.

I can see that someone might find that annoying, MTB for me is that in that
it needs a car/train to get it somewhere.

Though I find most of the rail trails fairly busy places with runners/dog
walkers and so on plus bikes, even in areas such as wales which are fairly
unpopulated areas.

So I’m more likely to ride other areas if I want to just ride and don’t
want to people!

 
I'll also happily ride on a rainy day when the temperature is in the
80s or 90s, but not in the 60s or 70s.

In further harrumph found a sidewall slash and slight bulge on the commute
tire so that’s a gona! Which I discovered after a puncture yesterday on way
to work, and I’d put the tire on reverse which on those makes no difference
but annoyed me so I changed it around today but discovered the slash,
almost certainly due to a nail probably not the same as one that punctured.

But somewhat annoying as the tire only had a 2k or so on it, they should do
normally last 8k ish.
