I don't think so. Maybe new to them.
Indeed it very much looks like some of the more street tyres for MTB’s
you’d see in the 1980’s and so on!
Like many or most marketers, I think Jan Heine is touting nearly
imperceptible differences.
On the other hand, there's no such thing as "too many choices."

Either they sell enough at a high enough margin to recover
their tooling expense plus some operations profit or that
tire will just go away. Like anything else.
