I spent a few minutes poking around his website, looking for the motor/ drive chain interface. Couldn't find anything at all.
Looks as if the motor unit has a sprocket on top of the chain just behind the chainring, but I'm not certain of that
I think there is a sprocket under the chain behind the chainring. The chain appears to be held up above the chainring.

If it took a couple of minutes to install the expensive bit, and remove it, it would make it easy to remove the bit that thieves would be interested in. You could carry it in to the office and charge it at work!
