A few years ago, we had the first and only fatality in our 265 acre
nature preserve's history. The guy was a middle aged mountain biker
and
fitness enthusiast, not known to me but known well by some of my
friends, mostly through their contact at a local gym.

Indeed that area of Spain is hilly and even areas such as Tenerife
which is
much further south can get cold at height and does snow occasionally.

If he was dressed for mid 50's the day before (as the almanac shows) he
would have been pretty damn cold if he was unable to move from an
injury, was dehydrated, etc.

Yikes, that looks cold. I forgot it was winter there. So
decomp would not have played much of a part in obscuring COD. Rodent
damage would have, though. I presume all the critters don't just curl
up and hibernate when that white stuff is around....
