Without the big strap over my toes, my foot would sometimes slide
forward as I transitioned from pulling back to pushing forward. That
directed my pushing force to the forward part of the pedal, which was
already centered further back than on normal pedals. It put my foot in
an exxtreme pointed toe position and put a lot of strain on the top of
my foot nd ankle joint.
I don't know if I explained that well enough, but whatever. My
alterations also make it easier to unhook my foot from the ugly thing.
