Dog story but not a bike involved?

My son was walking his dog Trixie down street they live in Tampa Fl. A pit bull attached and bit her throat and caused a  broken leg. My son said the leg was broken he could tell. They were getting her to a vet ASAP. The pit bull was not on a leash and attacked another dog his friend had along for the walk. Not much damage there but Trixie is 14 years old but otherwise in decent shape, although she is deaf.
I feel bad because I had her the past two years and my son moved and took her to his new place in Florida. Trixie could be a bit to handle with her habits and I was just getting tired of having to take care of her. She was a pain to clip nails and keep brushed. Would take your hand off if you did not muzzle her to clip.
