My use of "you" was intended to be singular, directed at Tom.
One of the faults of the English language is a lack of clarity on Second Person Plural. In Pittsburghese it's "yinz," in other areas it's "y'all" but neither is considered good standard English. Maybe that's a standard that should change?

While I give a bit of extra respect to most of the "elderly" in most situations, my treatment of people here is based on their posts. Period.

I think you can get all the practice you need using Tom. Tom's posts constitute what military folk call a "target rich environment."
