The bloke you mention was a lecturer at Thailand's Naresuan
University.. not some barefoot tourist.

Given that the King and Royal family have no legal authority in
Thailand it is difficult to see why he would have had anything to say
about him anyway.

But, returning to the topic, "domestic happiness" doesn't
apply to visitors. In fact the misery of foreigners can
contribute to the denizens' happiness!
