I am an old-school Thunderbird user still. It allows me access to

even used anymore we seem to be a bunch of crazy old cyclist.
Thunderbird is good but slow and I would possible like to go to Outlook
but it will cost $70 a year. What are you all using for your email
program and getting the newsgroup. Pretty sure Andrew is doing what I do
but maybe not for all email.

If thunderbird is slow on your PC it isn't an issue with Thunderbird.
I'm running it on two laptops with no speed issues. The issues you're
running into are more likely with ES. It's a free service (donation
based) being managed by a small team for little money. The fastest/best
PC and internet connectivity aren't going to help with that.

Also, Outlook isn't a newsreader, so you won't be able to access RBT
with it, and besides a basic outlook email account is free. If you want
additional cloud storage, there's a fee.
I use Eternal September with Forte Agent as a newsreader. I have no
issues with speed, but occasionally my Eternal September connection
simply shuts down. Usenet is not a high enough priority for me for
that to be a problem. I've got many, many other things to do.
