 For newsgroup access, I use Thunderbird. It works fine for me. I've seen no reason to use it for email, even though I could if I chose to.

For Newsgroups I use Thunderbird.
For mail, I use whatever comes handy: outlook for my work email, thunderbird or a webmail reader for my private mail on the work PC or the mail programs on the mobile phone.
