Obviously, opinions vary. I'll note that the article praising Youngstown was based on a U.S. News article that analyzed (gasp!) data. The article slagging Youngstown was an undocumented opinion piece, the opinion of one woman who apparently knows nothing about numbers.
I'll also note that I've never voiced complaints about living here. Nor do any of my friends. In fact, last week a few of us were once again remarking on how excellent the bicycling is around here. And a dear friend who recently moved here (having escaped Florida!) is reveling in the amazingly low housing costs.
But we're deep into Tom's usual defense-by-deflection. I had professional engineering licenses in two states that officially said I was an engineer, and engineering work experience at several different companies (which was necessary to get the PE license). Tom claims to have been called an engineer by some PhDs - which may have been true, because a company is allowed to confer any title it likes _internally_. But by recognized professional standards, Tom was never an engineer.
I suppose those PhDs were very impressed that Tom single handedly "desigjned" [sic] automatic transmission of "water.gas ad" [sic] electricity for all of PG&E. I would be impressed too, if it were true!
But if it were true, why would Tom have hidden that amazing accomplishment until now?
