 I object to phrases like "the only car-free safe infrastructure." Far too many people think bicycling on ordinary roads is horrendously dangerous. I suspect the bulk of them have never examined relevant data, and/or are incompetent at math.
 

You and I are one on the general principle.
But, specifically, this project sucks.
Aside from the general waste, corruption and ineptitude of public projects like this, Peter Drucker went up a notch in his analysis:
"The worst thing is doing well that which should not have been done at all."
