It was more or less informally occupied by Arditi and Bersaglieri after Austro Hungary's defeat and amidst the general post war general confusion for something like a year and a half.
'Liberation' quickly turned to debauchery and dissolution for these formerly disciplined special forces. No rules whatsoever? Theory aside, the actual examples like Fiume are not so wonderful.  Which doesn't mean something else sorta Libertarian-ish but less anarchic or feral couldn't work. Examples in the real world are yet lacking.
Oh, and those were Futurists at that time. (The term Fascist starts later, around 1922).
