In January I put in 460 miles. And this included some difficult
climbing. I am going to have to build up to that again but I did
put in 402 mostly flat mileage this month. Lets see what I do nect
December if it's reasonably dry. I seem to never be in the mood to
climb since my stroke. But I will get over that.
Post your rides on Strava. Otherwise, I don't believe you.

"I closeed my Strava account as I've said before - because when I did
a ride the 20 year olds would ride the same course and then brag about
how much faster they were."
If you're looking for Tom's Strava link, this is what's left of them:

Neither account has any data or details in it.
My account is at:

However, you will be disappointed. I haven't been riding a bicycle
since about 2018(?) due to back pain problems. I also didn't ride
competitively. Mostly, it was short rides around the Santa Cruz area.
Everything I've recorded on Strava was either a walk or a hike in a
local park. No bicycle involved. My cardiologist demanded that I do
exercise walks at least 4 times per week. I couldn't do that, so I
only did one walk. I walk or hike with or 2 or 3 friends,
unfortunately at the rate of the slowest. I may need to make some
changes as I'm definitely not getting enough exercise by walking.
(Note: I'm 77.5 years old and am doing well enough for my age).
Tom began posting his rides on Strava in about mid 2022(?) at the
request of Lou Holtman, a competent engineer. I subscribed to the
free version of Strava to see how it works, learn how to use Strava,
and keep an eye out for Tom. Despite claiming to have 15(?) bicycles,
Tom never bothered to post which bicycle he was riding on Strava. If
Tom had switched bicycles, some of the amazing and questionable
numbers seem to have been the result of speed sensor calibration
errors.
Tom's Strava postings continued for a few months. (I can research the
exact dates if someone wants to know). At some point, Lou Holtman
announced that he was leaving rec.bicycles.tech. At approximately the
same time, Tom deleted his data and wiped all the data from his Strava
account. I don't recall which event came first.
I have a free Strava account that my Garmin account passes my data to,
but I seldom look at it. I get more data with Garmin Connect and I can
download it and save it in my own database.I use Garmin and Strava but Strava is a much more used platform for all
types of things.
I also use Garmin and Strava (plus Komoot for social sharing). I track
most rides/ hikes both on the wrist watch and on the mobile phone.
Garmin always gets the raw data from the wrist watch while Strava takes
the GPS data (w/o heart rate) from the mobile phone when the wrist watch
did not record correctly (mostly due to user erros - e.g. forgot to
re-start tracking after lunch break, sometimes due to technical errors).
