You're afraid to be without the gun. Little kids are afraid to be without their stuffed animals. It's variations on a theme, but your version allows you to still pretend to be a little bit manly.

That's another statement of paranoia, plus ignorance on at least two points. You're so afraid of motor vehicles that you (essentially?) never ride near one, unlike everyone else here. You ignorantly exaggerate the level of risk. And you are ignorant of riding techniques that do reduce the already small risk posed by motorists.
