The Colt Navy replicas or just Navy is a half frame. There is no frame there for the barrel to thread into. Further most of those (even Confederate Navy models) were .36 caliber. Usually when people say .36 Navy they are referring to a model 1851 Navy.This one is a Remington , full frame with a top strap - which is why I chose this one . Dad liked mine so much he got one in .44 - looking at the box Dad's came in it says "Remington 1858 style steel frame revolver" . Colts have the barrel retained by a wedge if I understand correctly .
