Yes, I have been told if you stuff the pipe full of sand it might not kink. In the twentyish years I've owned it I was successfully able to use it on one job to make a very slight offset in some two inch conduit for running a fiber optic cable. Just a few degrees and even then if you look closely, you can see that it started to kink. In any case, the fiber optic cable was run and the school is connected.
I haven't really used it much in probably ten years. I've thought about getting rid of it a dozen times because it just takes up space on the floor.
The other day a buddy of mine asked me if I could straighten a bow in his boat trailer cause by pushing through a giant hole in a back country boat ramp. The pipe die made a fantastic guide to keep the chain in place on top of the jack.
I wish I had thought to take a picture of what it looked like before.
