If you camp out you go don't go home until you've slept, because the next time you might wind up in the canal instead of a field.  I doubt I had any impact, but I tried.

I might have mentioned this once before in another story.  A fellow I know in Oklahoma was telling me about a kid he caught stealing stuff around his farm.  Instead of calling the sheriff or even the kid's parents he asked him why he was stealing.  Well obviously no money, but he wanted to do things that take money.  He gave him a lecture about feeling better about himself using money he earned, and he gave the kid a job doing chores around his place.  Stuff stopped disappearing.
