news:vvm48l$33rs5$1@dont-email.me...Totally unrelated to this I am considering some pallet racking to make a
mezzanine in a couple areas of my shop for an upper level storage, but
the roof of my office and machine room are not fully utilized yet. fine.

For me the cost of used pallet rack this year has doubled, from $0.25 to $0.50 per pound. The dealer carries mainly sections formed from flat stock though he still had rolled C channel left. I don't think the formed sections would be as adaptable as C channel to other uses like making a trailer frame or especially an overhead gantry hoist track. An I beam is structurally better for track but I couldn't pick up or store one comparable to my 16' long, >2000 Lb capacity (with center support) track that separates into 5 portable pieces.
