I chose to store larger and heavier wheeled powered equipment, the tractors, log splitter, generators, snow blowers etc, in less expensively built firewood pole sheds with slightly sloped corrugated steel roofs and tarp walls that fully open, plus lower pallet or dirt floors to ease rolling or driving in and out. The walled sheds have a higher floor level so snow + ice doesn't freeze the doors shut. The mostly Harbor Freight tarps last 5 - 10 years.
The 900W Honda generator can stay indoors because the primer bulb I made for it will pressurize and completely empty the gas tank, line and carburetor. If iced in I need to clear only a small space outside to run it.
