That job was taking down a neighbor's large oak tree that had fallen against and jammed in another. I pulled the bottom end uphill to free it, using a tripod and pulley to raise the pull angle as much as possible. Dragging the splintered end through the rocky ground took up to 3500 Lbs of measured pull over an hour or so. As the cable reel filled the leverage decreased until I could manage only two clicks at a time and the former Marine not even one, when I took a break and he stepped in to show me how it's done. He had more respect after that.
I measured the pull to stay within the ratings of my light duty towing straps, since I was close in line if one snapped. There were rugs over them but still...
