I bin wear one Hawaii T-shirt yesterday, true true. E get di word
'Hawaii' for front sef. Na real immersion be dat.
Pidgin is considered to be one of the official languages of Hawaii. Not
so much by the Hawaiians but by the U.S. Census Bureau. When I was going
to school, the issue of the day was the kids speaking pidgin. That was
considered to be low class and considered to be not suitable in the
educational environment. These days, the kids are learning their speech
through the internet and pidgin is a dying language. That's okay with
me.
