I've used the aluminum foil method with great success. But I saw a tip about a year ago online with a short
video. The guy said to leave the celery in that green
tinted bag that grocers have in their fresh fruits and
vegetable aisle, not the one that celery comes in if
that's how your store offers this veggie. These are
definitely on a roll and light green. Shove your
celery into that and store it and when you want celery
for a recipe just cut off, straight across, how much
you can guestimate you'll need.
Twist up the open end of the bag and back into the
frig it goes. Wash what you've cut off and dice or
slice it for your needs. Storing it in that green
bag and cutting across the top has kept my celery
fresh for many, many weeks.
Try either storage method, but I believe the secret
is cutting across the top of the bunch and just
working your way down the stalks until you reach
the root end.
