I never ask my wife to, "Bring me a beer." Today, after knee surgery,
I'm doing just that. They went in to clean up torn meniscus, but the
surgeon went ahead and addressed some osteoarthritis. Even before the
local wore off, the pain is pretty awful. Hydrocodone, beer and
hot&spicy chicharones. No cooking for *this old man* for a while.
In the future, you'll be able to ask a robot to go get you a beer. I saw
one at a pizza place the other day. Unfortunately, it was parked on the
side being charged up.
When I was in school, one of our classmates was a beautiful woman from
Hong Kong that had a small moon face attached to a buxom, corn-fed,
Midwestern, American body. What a thrill!
We had a meeting at the apartment where some Chinese students lived.
Another classmate, a rather scrawny, unhealthy-looking, goofy, Chinese
dude ordered her to go fetch me a drink. I did not approve of this kind
of behavior. No ugly person should order a beautiful woman around. As it
goes, I held my tongue and did not interfere in this - just like Captain
Kirk. Now that I think about it, that guy might have been a commie
Chinese agent of some kind. Anyway he didn't look like any of us college
students.
