Whatever do you mean 'garments'.
I don't know what the women wear but Mormon men will typically wear "the
garment" to signify that they have gone on a mission. This would be like
a rite of passage similar to a Aussie walkabout. They're sent out to
other lands to help the natives. I'm not sure what that involves but
when they get back they are allowed to wear the special underwear i.e.,
the garment. This would be underwear that looks like something that an
1800's American gentleman would wear with shorts that come down
mid-thigh. My understanding is that Mormon women will check for the
garment by placing their hand on a prospective mate's thigh to feel for
the hem of the garment.
These days, the young men like to wear undies that go down to mid-thigh.
I don't like those things but it must cause some confusion for Mormon
gals. If you ask me, the garment should be replaced with an embedded
chip that can be read with an Apple Watch placed on the thigh in
question.
Full disclosure: I'm not a Mormon so don't quote me because I could be
wrong.
