I have to admit that one of my pet peeves is pancake mix. I have never
understood why anyone would use a mix when pancakes are so easy to make
from scratch. They use only basic kitchen staples. Over the years some
people have touted pancake mixes where you just add water, which negated
my argument about paying good money for the cheap ingredients and still
having to use the more expensive components.
I broke down and bought a box of mix the other day. I could not find the
premium brand that had been recommended and ended up with the store
brand, President's Choice, which usually has good quality products.
It was certainly a lot easier to add water, stir and cook so I can see
the advantage for some people. The results..... edible. They were not
very good. I am unlikely to ever buy them again. I am not even sure if
I will finish the box.

Live and learn. ;) Then again, pancakes are not something I think about
cooking. Even if I go someplace for breakfast, I don't order pancakes.
Give me a good cheese omelet any day! Preferably one with bacon, brie &
spinach.

Ok, pancakes go on the Biddy Blacklist!
I'm not crazy about pancakes, either. I prefer waffles, which I
make at home. That way I know I'm getting real maple syrup instead
of flavored corn syrup.
If I go out to breakfast, I'm likely to order Eggs Benedict (if I
know they have a good Hollandaise) or hash browns with eggs and bacon.
