arrgh! There's that darn moldy bowl again. ;-) heh heh
I love that bowl, it's beautiful! I suppose it does look moldy - it's
supposed to look "rustic."
Our condo looks moldy. I asked the board about using some paint that
suppresses mold. That management lady laughed and said it was too
expensive. I don't care much for her attitude.
She does have a shitty attitude. I do not understand people who want to
live in bad looking houses and apartments. It's as if they do violence
to their own souls!
Maybe the .357 we discussed earlier would help her change her mind? Or a
hug? Or perhaps if you offered to pay for it out of your own pocket?
Or...lawyers...
Ahh... yet another old US tradition! Nothing like a good, old fashioned legal battle! ;)
In europe on the other hand, they never lead to anything, and if any damages are paid, it's more of an insult. The government valued the life of my late mother at around 6000 USD or so (this was many years ago, so it is way, way in the past, but an interesting anecdote about the value governments attach to lives). Yet another reason why the US is a much better place to be than europe. Damages actually have meaning. =)

That's a really sad tale of tort abuse for sure.

Otoh, it kind of jibes with your elders feeling the need to get rid of all material belongings after a certain age (70?)...

Perhaps... given the sad state of the healthcare system, what's the point? ;) Strangely enough, sweden, despite its socialism, has no inheritance tax!
The reason for it are a few wealthy industrialist families such as the owners of H&M for instance, who basically told the government many years ago, that if inheritance taxes are levied, they will leave the country, and too many tax dollars (or crowns) were at stake, so even the socialists saw the light.
So come to sweden! The best place for you to die! ;)
