Phin Clanton married into my wife's Arizona clan. Her Uncle Fay was
named after him. Earps and Clantons didn't mix well.
On a higher plane, my great-great granduncle, Henry Goode Blasdel, was
the first governor of the State of Nevada.
He changed the spelling of his last name, so the hicks out west
would be
able to pronounce and spell it.
"Blaisdell" is a name fondly remembered in Hawaii. There's a concert
hall/arena named after him. Perhaps he's kinfolk of yours.

There used to be barracudas swimming in the pools around the exhibition
hall. I guess someone thought it would be funny to put some in the
water. There were quite a few there. They're very interesting fish.

Are barracudas tasty? Sounds like a fun fish to catch!
I have had smoked barracuda. They are a tasty, firm fleshed, fish and
take smoking well. I don't know why we don't see that fish sold anymore.
You can tell that they're built for speed. Cool.
Are they a stable population around your rock?

Conservation Efforts
Conservation initiatives in Hawaii prioritize the protection of marine
species, including barracudas. Efforts to maintain healthy ecosystems
through responsible fishing practices and preserving their natural
habitats contribute significantly to their continued existence.
I don't know a thing about those critters in Hawaii. If I saw one, I'd
move in the opposite direction. I can still remember a picture I saw
when I was a kid, it was a bunch of terrified swimmers being chased by a
pack of barracuda. That picture struck me in a peculiar way. You could
say that it was not in a good way.

Did they survive or was there a bloody massacre in the water?
I'll stick to a boat, and my trusty weapon of choice will be the nuclear option "Atom"! Will be interesting to see if it as as effective on Barracuda as on Pike. ;)
