None ever were. Nixon was impeached and he resigned.
Lots of impeachments (Clinton, too, IIRC) but none were ever forced out
of office. It's a rather useless amendment dating back to the 1800's.
It's not an amendment. It's Article II, Section 4.
Don't forget that impeachment is what happens in the House.
It brings charges against a public official. The trial happens
in the Senate and requires a two-thirds majority to convict.
