This discussion made me seem to remember "Bacon Bits", so I googled. I
was remembering "Bac'n Bits" from McCormick. The google for "Bacon
Bits" showed several suppliers of bacon and imitation bacon crumbles.
In my defense, I've never tried any of them.

That's ok Leo. I just recall having had both here. Names vary but
both types (real bacon and TVP knock offs) are still sold but maybe not
the same names now.
On oddball things, they have a turkey version of black peppered turkey
pastrami at the store. It's a boar's head product. Before they went
almost all board's head, they had one from a local distributor that was
outstanding and cheaper that BH stuff. Sadly, no more. The BH is ok,
but oh well. I miss the locally produced one.
