Idaho/russet potatoes were on sale BOGO 10 lb bags, so we
have a big  pot of potato soup simmering on the stove top
this chilly evening.  I  pulled a quart bag of home made
stock from the freezer, but I don't  remember if it's beef
or poultry.  I guess it will be a surprise when  the soup
is done.  :)

Have you not learned to label things you put in the freezer?
IMO potato soup is best made with chicken stock.

One would think I'd have learned by now, but I froze it some
time ago.  I'm pretty sure that it was poultry stock.  Either
way, the soup turned  out well, and the kids asked for seconds.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the soup.  Get yourself a marker and put
the date and contents on whatever you're freezing.  Unless you
prefer guessing. ;)

Thin role of masking tape works to write on for most containers.

Plain old Scotch tape works, too.  Write the date & contents on it
with a Sharpie marker.

Yes but I find the masking tape easier to remove.
