I understand that you think gender is discrete rather than a continuum,
despite all the evidence.  You're sensitized to be annoyed whenever
you hear _anything_ about it.

I know that transgender people are a bête noire of yours.

I have a decent education, an Honours BA.  My DiL is in
academia and she is not thrilled with some of the nonsense that is going
on at universities these days. 

As if universities are the entire world.  As we know, the conflicts
in academia are so bitter because the stakes are so small.

There were always a few radicals around
and they provided some entertainment for themselves over the years, but
these days there are a ton of issues that they like to be concerned
with. It's all about being offended these days. They go out of their way
to be offended.  I look forward to the day when being offended by
something will again be seen as their problem, not ours.

So you're offended by people being offended.
