And don't worry about it. When 'Total calorie intake = total
calories used' you stay stable. Watch Songbird. He eats more in
summer when he's expending a lot of energy on the garden. He seems
to have indicated (post some time back) that as the work drifts
down, he just naturally eats less. You may be shifting to that.
It's a good way to be, eating when hungry (or volume control based
on hunger).
yes, in the summer i can eat pretty much anything i
want, but when the weather closes in and i'm not doing
much 1200 calories a day is enough.
i do currently eat more meat than i would if i were
living alone but i also make sure to get enough veggies
and some fruits at times for the other vitamins. the
more fiber you can eat is also better for trying to keep
off extra weight - it helps you feel fuller longer.
what i don't do is eat a lot of carbs at night like
Mom does. she'll sit and eat crackers. to me they are
very sweet and not really worth the bother. a square
of good chocolate and some peanuts hit the spot. as
the evenings get colder and darker i also like to eat
more fats.
the weakness for me and carbs are the cookies and
cookie dough. really hard for me to avoid those. if
they are not around i don't eat them, but they usually
are on hand. sometimes i will have carrots and peanut
butter instead as a snack or even a whole meal, just a
few is satisfying enough to me. dinner last night was
some mixed vegetables and a few crackers with peanut
butter on them. that was it.

That's the way to go! Nicely balanced as well. Dinner today is an
'Asian-like' soup and fried rice but I like to fry the rice in butter,
which isn't common to encounter.
I also made up some snacks from the rice so if we get peckish later, we
have it. Rice balls. I mixed 2 of them with honey then lightly coated
with cinnimon and suger plus a touch of Don's low sodium salt. Mine
were filled with a a bit of strawberry jam then rolled in crushed dry
roasted peanuts. We don't like to fill up post dinner but riceballs
don't do that and can be endlessly varied. I make them a little
smaller than a golf ball with some center flavor then something
compatible sprinkled or rolled on the outside. Put them in cheap paper
cupcake paper holders so they don't stick to each other.
Snacks are good for the soul but don't have to be unhealthy!
