news:vs3lpj$cs14$1@dont-email.me...Anyway, before, price was something I was interested in. Now
I'm not too worried about price. I'm interested in not having to
store food in a fridge, and not having to cook. I don't want to
spend time cooking (lazy), but also, I will (simulating) have no
electricity or gas to cook with anyway.

Do a search for "prepper food" and you will see their are many sources
of food kits that may work for you. I imagine you'd supplement a kit
with other items, but this would be a good start.
Thanks all for your replies.
Believe it or not - it never even occurred to me that this
fell into the category of "prepping". However, the "Soylent"
link got me to search for getting that in Australia, and I
found this:
https://qota.com.au/equivalent in Australia, which is far more reasonably priced
than the prepping stuff - I don't need it to last 25 years like
the readywise.
Note that water is chlorinated in Sydney, so that's not
an issue. But I don't want to waste precious electricity
on heating water.
BTW, this is more "minimalism" than "prepping".
There have been some more developments too. I have
bought and used many powerbanks, but in all my
searches I never came across the term "laptop powerbank",
so I didn't think it was possible to power my laptop, even
thought it takes USB-C power.
Turns out that it is possible, I just needed the right cable
(USB-C to USB-C PD - power delivery) to get it to work
(and one of my powerbanks capable of 65W needs me to
power off my laptop before it will charge - which is fine).
But the icing on the cake is this:
https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0DMC5GD7NIt doesn't just do PD, it does 240V AC so I can power any
device so long as it draws a reasonable amount of electricity.
Like my router.
So if something unexpected happens, I should be able to cope.
And more icing on the cake. A couple of days ago I found out
that most payphones in Australia actually have free wifi.
So if you frequent Usenet groups (like this one), and use
UUCP (Eternal September allows that) to connect once/day
to transfer message bundles, you can basically have electricity
from the Sun at a local park, and free wifi from a payphone,
and have endless entertainment.
I actually have a Fidonet background so I intend to convert
the UUCP bundles so that I can use existing Fidonet software,
but that's a separate exercise.
The technological solution may not be for me personally. There
are homeless people in Sydney and it is apparently an unsolvable
problem due to some factors like doctors wanting to live in
Sydney too. Just like in the Philippines, they apparently have
some existing solution to obtaining food, so I'm just covering
the Usenet (or similar) side of things. I have seen even a
computer programmer say they are homeless (not in Sydney
though), so they might be interested in this.
So yeah. This is the sort of thing I am focused on. If I can get
my food in a bottle and be done with it, I want to at least have
that as an option.
One of the times I was dieting I used to eat chicken breast (from
a box) and diet coke (equivalent) for every meal - about 600
calories/day (plus a multivitamin). So I've done bland things in
the past. That was heated with a microwave, so that's not
what I'm after this time.
I like that option for fried/bagged chips too which is hopefully
better than having to settle for "bland".
