often, its typical purpose is to sit on the back of the stove and hold
burnt out match sticks until I dump them in the trash. I never
thought about using it for burgers.
I just mentioned that in another reply, Michael. I have a cast iron
bacon press which would would work fine for smash burgers. I don't use
it for bacon because I bake bacon but I do still have the old bacon press.

I also bake bacon, it's far less messy, and I can do the whole package
at once. That's probably why I don't use the bacon press. I cook it
soft, that way, I can keep the cooked slices in the fridge and they'll
crisp up nicely for a few minutes in a hot skillet, maybe with eggs,
when I'm ready for bacon. Well now, that is, if the family doesn't
polish the bacon off same day before I can put it away. :)

just to have it sit in the fridge for a week.
