I know that it is a way that Hawaiians sometimes cook

fire in a pit dug in the ground every day in order to cook
their food. And it has nothing to do with cast iron or

He also insinuates mainlanders don't ever cook in the ground.
Ever been to a clambake? (snippage)
Yes, I've been to a clambake. David likes to insinuate a lot of
things about "mainlanders" but he doesn't really know what he's
talking about.

You act like mainlanders clambake every day. That's just so silly.
Depending on area and climate, once a week around here though clams
may be just one of the offerings.
Once a week? Clam season here in SC opened October 1st but I don't
know anyone who has a clam bake every week or even every month. Most
of the local clams are sold to restaurants.
grocery stores. They are also commercially farmed which is where it
can get sticky if you collect your own and accidently hit the
commercial beds. Blue crab is different and prolific all along the
'necks'.
"Taking by dip net, hand line (e.g. "chicken necking"), or up to two
commercial-style crab pots as much as one bushel of hard crabs and two
dozen peeler crabs in any one day for personal use.

in length for shedding crabs for personal use.
The use of the following gears require a license for "recreational use
of commercial gear". Each of these licenses shall be issued to an
individual for their exclusive use"

With limits like that, couple of folks will just drop a few crab pots
and catch what they want (in season).
I didn't either. There's the church bit (northern VB along LittleThere's some spots where a communal pit>
was made by the neighbors and everybody uses it for a little post
church. Charlie Wright's church has one and they use it as a group
after services in good weather. The back of the church is 1 house
from one of the best crabbing spots but there's a limit and an off
season (breeding time). A couple of picnic tables, some coals or
chip wood and water from the church and it's a go!
I'm happy for Charlie's church (whoever he is) but I never claimed
mainlander's have clam bakes every day. dsi1 did.

Neck) and another down by Pungo that I know of. There probsably are
more. Chic's beach used to be famous for them but the city made them
stop because folks were making messes and not cleaning up.
I'd be surprised if the resort area didn't have some too but that's
different.
Anyway, being located on the water, makes it far more common here I am
sure.
