This morning we made meatballs according to the recipe I posted
a couple of weeks ago. They just came out of the oven, and I'm
sitting down to three meatballs, unadorned by tomato sauce.

This was a double batch. Next time we'll make a single batch
and fry them. My husband was disappointed in the crust.

Frying is always better. I was disappointed when my mother switched to
using the oven. The crust is lost when you finish them by simmering in
the sauce for an hour, but frying first makes them firmer and develops
flavor. I wish I had her recipes but she was a secretary and wrote them
all in shorthand.

I have a couple of old shorthand text books. I bet you could learn to decode the recipes as a weekend project over winter.
Why am I not surprised you have old shorthand textbooks? LOL I wanted to take shorthand in high school but by that time dictaphones were becoming the norm so the school cancelled the classes.

Has your Majesty ever really used a diktaphone? How was it? Did you use KY? Did you warm it up first?
