Chocolate Polka Dot Cake - Better Homes & Gardens Special Inserts,
Nestle, 1941
2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
3 tsps. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsps. vanilla
2/3 cup milk
1 package (7-oz.) Nestle's
Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Cream shortening, add sugar
gradually and beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time
beating well after each addition. Add vanilla.
Add flour alternately with milk, beating after each addition. Stir
1/3, of the Morsels into the cake batter. Sprinkle 1/3 over the top
before baking. Turn into two greased 8-inch layer pans. Put layers
together and cover cake with Seven-Minute Frosting; decorate top and
sides with remaining Nestle's Semi-Sweet Chocolate
"Morsels".
Bake at: 350� F. Time: 35-40 min.
