This reminds me of baseball games I went to, and I found people
bbq:ing in the parking lot! Never seen that in europe. Felt very
genuine!
Tailgate party. Trucks flip the tail gate down and have a mass
party waiting for the game to open. Burgers, hot dogs, some might
have a steak or so.
Ahhh.... so that's where the name comes from! I've been wondering
about it, but never looked it up. Thank you for scratching that itch!
=)
It was funny but I lived in a trailer park age 21-23. We had the same
type of party long ago. A televised game would come on and we'd bring
out our TVs with rabbit ears and turn them all on to the only channel
with the game. We'd set up BBQ's if we had one and folks who didn't
have one would grill on your's. Chicken franks were best most of us
could afford but it all worked out. I'd make a ton of coleslaw and
beans and some chicken dogs. Folks would bring cheap beer and we'd
just have fun.
Just a day having a group party. We called it a trailer gate party.
Trailers have a v-shaped front gate amd we'd set up by there ot bigger
grills would be perched in the center triangle of the hitch.
I don't think that was common. It was just something us college
students would do.
