No excuse, of course. He chose the platform and its limitations.
So when you use a Mickey Mouse computer, you don't have a mouse.
A mouse. How quaint. I quit using a mouse over 20 years ago. You
oldsters are so cute with your mice, desktop computers, kill files,
Windows, etc, etc, etc. You guys should put in your wills that you wish
to be buried with your beloved relics. Oh yeah.
Usenet is a relic of the desktop-only era, so it's only fitting. A
tablet has it's place, but it's exceedingly difficult to post to Usenet,
particularly selecting text and editing posts, with only a touch screen.

There is no chance I'd post here without a mouse and keyboard. I can
make do with a laptop keyboard and trackpad, but only a touch screen?
Fugget about it!
Indeed, it's the reason that few of the posters here will post using a
tablet. I've posted from an iPad just for giggles but it wasn't that
great of an experience. The idea that you need a mouse to post to Usenet
is just a silly idea by people that don't know any better. They should
branch out a little more.

I use an Amazon Fire tablet for most of my postings here... cab use it
whilst reclining on my chaise lounge or Morris Chair...

The Novabbs web - based interface that Joan and myself use is fine on a
tablet...
