We had about 4" of snow between yesterday and this morning. I actually
had to go and shovel the driveway. It was bordering on enough snow to go
back to the barn to get the snow blower.
No snow here, but it's cold. Yesterday at dinner time I went out --
with no more gear than a flannel shirt -- to take out the trash,
get some bird seed out of the garage, and refill one of the bird
feeders. On my way back into the house, I looked at the thermometer;
it read 25 F. No wonder I felt chilly.
A nearby weather station is reading 6 F right now. We're starting
a warm-up, though. No white Christmas for us. The newspaper tells
me that since 1940 we've had a white Christmas only about half of
the time.
This afternoon I made the cranberry sauce. I was tasked with making that
for Christmas dinner at my brother's.
Tomorrow I'll make the fruit salad for Christmas breakfast. Tuesday
afternoon it'll be the breakfast casserole.
My wife is trying to clean up and put up Christmas decorations but we
didn't make much headway because we had several neighbours stop by with
gifts and ended up chatting a lot. I find it hard to believe we are
only four sleeps from Christmas Day.
We put up the tree on November 30; that's the only decorating we do.
Hard to believe here, too. I feel extra busy this year. Time to
slow down and watch some Christmas movies.
