They are very, very kind. If you just relax and radiate spiritual love towards them, they will not sting you. I've had many kinds of wasps and bees walk all over me and they never sting.

 also if it were only one hive this wouldn't be as much of an
issue, but it can be several dozen hives.  the number varies each
year.
