I still do two spaces.  I learned that in 1962 and see no reason to change.  When printing a letter it still looks better.
When I text, hitting the space bar twice gives a period, space, makes the next letter a capital. Texting itself is an abbreviated form of communication, just a sentence or two.  I have one exception to that, a text I send every day that is a bit longer.  Yes, there is a story behind that.
