 Then eggs would always be more expensive.  Economies of scale favor
farms with a million (literally) chickens on them.

 Large eggs were $4.99/dozen at the grocery store yesterday.  Limit
two per customer.  Huh.  They're more expensive than that at Aldi.
My grocery must be using them as a loss leader.
 

My wife buys large eggs exclusively for baking.  Other than that, we always buy jumbos.  They are less expensive per weight.
