I grew up eating fish sticks in the 1960's and 1970's. My mother bought different brands, depending upon which was less expensive. When I was a kid and we'd visit my mothers parents, grandma cooked fish sticks every week as part of an inexpensive weekly meal plan. (Nope, no tartar sauce.) I liked fish sticks but hey, I was a kid; didn't know any better. My comment was actually more about the frozen fish sticks than it was the homemade tartar sauce. I haven't found any frozen fish sticks worth spending money on in years. Homemade tartar sauce is kind of like putting lipstick on a pig. 😉Last time I had fish sticks was when my mother made Mrs. Paul's about 1960. Never bought or made tarter sauce. I never felt deprived though.
