I thought they started that "Real ID" thing a few years back.  I
remember them saying that people can't fly without it.  That works for
me, I just have the regular state/driver's ID.  I didn't feel like
bringing in SS card and everything else they wanted for "real ID".

I've got my Gold Star ID alright. We don't really have any choice in the
matter. I can't say if the in-laws on the mainland have them. I suspect
not. They don't like flying anyway. They do like traveling all over the
county though. They have to do it the hard way.
