You must live in some kind of time warp.  Bok choy has been
available at grocery stores here for 30 years.
 

 
It's been around here for at least that long. It was being offered in
Chinese restaurants here about 60 years ago, and if it was available
for them back in those days there was obviously a local provider.

Dave, sure in asian and specialty stores, I mean mainstream like
Krogers.  Not posh or specialty stores.  Whole foods probably always
had it.  Noting it in the run of the mill places like Kroger that
reluctantly carry 1 brand of soy sauce, is unusual.
