I don't really see much the point of paid holidays if they are just going to be retail sale events. Banks, major businesses and government offices shut down for the day and everyone goes out shopping, so the lowest paid sector of the economy end up having to go to work. Nuts to that. If it is a statutory holiday everyone should have the day off.

I agree with the idea that shops should close on public holidays, especially Family Day!!

It was so named because the Premier of Alberta felt guilty about his
failure as a father when his son was caught drug-dealing.
He was a failure as a Premier too but that's another story.
